AWF NEWSWIRE DECEMBER 2007 / JANUARY 2008 EDITION

Australasian Wrestling Federation News Update
Get Ready, Things are about to get heavy!

Welcome AWF News Update for December 2007 and January 2008.

AWF rounded out it’s 2007 year with 2 exciting shows as part of the Year End Extravaganza weekend on December 1 & 2.

The events were full of action and surprises as always and will set the scene for the New Years Revolution events on 18 & 19 January, 2008.

In headline news TNT remains AWF Australasian Champion successfully defending his Title against USA’s “X-Pac” Sean Waltman at Niagara Park in the final AWF bout for 2007. After a back and forth match TNT scored the pinfall with a well scouted counter to the X-Factor to retain the championship. We now go to footage from the bout and hear comments from X-Pac.

In Tag Team news Surf Club retained their AWF Gold at the Year End Extravaganza events also.
A major happening occurred in The Surf Club versus Freakshow tag team battle at Minto, where Bodacious Bo was absent due to a foot injury, a new female supporter of the Surf Club attacked The Freakshow’s now announced valet, Alison Wonderland, leading to a wild catfight, distracting Il Cognito, while Massive Q was double teamed and pinned with a shooting star press by Adam Hoffman.
It will be interesting to find out the new supporters relationship with Surf Club, and where Bodacious Bo stands in all of this.

Surf Club head to New Years Revolution with bouts against Platinum Players; Steve Ravenous and JT Robinson at Fairy Meadow, and Black Venum at Blacktown.

The intense rivalry between Powerhouse Theo and Jay Law became even more heated, with the next page in the struggle over the Young Lion’s Championship taking place at the Year End Extravaganza events.

At Minto, Law attacked Theo after his Young Lion’s victory over Harry Hardshaw. (Insert footage)
Then it was Theo’s turn later in the card to exact some revenge, intervening in Jay Law’s title bout versus TNT, spearing Law while the referee was down, allowing TNT to gain an opening for victory.
At Niagara Park on 2 December the two met for the Young Lion’s Championship, with the match getting out of hand and being ruled a no contest in the end. (Insert footage)
The rivalry is set to come to head at New Years Revolution Blacktown, with Theo and Law facing off one more time to settle the war. Be there in person on January 19 to find out who is the ultimate Young Lion.

Bluey Bonza had an impressive December returning to action from an injured ankle defeating former Tag Team Champions the Platinum Players single handedly in a major upset. Bluey then went on to face The Surf Club for the Tag Team Championship the next day at Niagara Park, however Harry Hardshaw interjected himself as Bluey’s partner and cost him the bout. Despite not coming away with the Titles, AWF congratulates Bluey on a strong return and will no doubt be one to watch in 2008.

New Year’s Revolution at Fairy Meadow Fraternity Club will see Massive Q receive his first AWF Australasian Championship shot, battling former friend TNT. Massive Q recently turned his back on TNT at the Supernova Pop Culture Convention, brutally attacking him, and joining TNT’s longtime rival Il Cognito to form The Freakshow.

This will be a massive challenge indeed for TNT to overcome and will be a bout that fans in the Wollongong area will not want to miss.
If TNT can survive Massive Q he will then go on to Blacktown to face, the man who was upended for the AWF Title by TNT at the 2007 New Years Revolution Blacktown event, TNT’s main adversary, Steve Ravenous.

TNT and the Platinum Players have been feuding for all of 2007, and January 19, 2008, will see the feud come to a head, in the singles rematch one year in the making. Ravenous defeated TNT’s sometimes tag team partner Billy Flyswat at Minto, and then even went through his own Platinum Players members at Niagara Park to gain the title shot at Blacktown. After defeating his own members Ravenous had these comments.

The AWF Championship bout between TNT & Steve Ravenous will be an unmissable explosion of the two top forces in AWF, so do not miss New Years Revolution at Blacktown RSL, as this bout will surely set the tempo for AWF in 2008.

Tickets for both the Fairy Meadow and Blacktown New Year’s Revolution events are on sale now from the respective clubs, with Ringside tickets $25, and General seating only $15. Book early to avoid missing out!

In closing AWF would like to thank it’s fans for their support during 2007, and wish everyone a safe holiday season. We look forward to doing it all again in 2008, and aim to grow the AWF even larger, bringing our events to new areas, and making new friends along the way. Please continue to spread the word about AWF, and we look forward to seeing you all at New Years Revolution and other events in 2008!
