AWF NEWS NOVEMBER 2007

The Year End “X”travaganza is approaching, December 1 & 2, and American wrestling star X-PAC invades AWF rings to face AWF’s top two fan favourites in Mark Hilton and TNT.

Regardless of the outcome of the Hilton bout at Minto on 1 Dec, X-Pac has been granted an AWF Australasian Title shot on the basis of his strong history of Championship wins and recent form in Mexico. AWF Champion, TNT through the years has often been compared by fans as having a similar style to X-Pac, so it will be an interesting battle on 2 Dec at Central Coast Youth Club to say the least. That being the case, if TNT survives the onslaught of Jay Law on 1 Dec at Minto.

In all it’s going to be one hell of a Year End “X”travaganza that fans will not want to miss!

October Wrestlefest from 5-7 October saw all AWF Championships remain in tact.

TNT was successful in AWF Australasian Title defences against DragonGate Japan’s Super Shenron and Gamma.

Tag Team Champions “The Surf Club” defeated Platinum Players, Black Venum & Pub Rockers to remain on top of the tag team division.

Young Lion’s Champion Powerhouse Theo stepped up pinning Super Shenron, and taking it to the more experienced Gamma in an exciting non title bout at Blacktown.

The events also saw Sabu return to AWF rings defeating Il Cognito & Steve Ravenous, and going to a no contest with TNT when the Platinum Players interfered.

Supanova on 13 & 14 October at The Dome in Homebush, NSW turned out to be an eventful weekend with lots of fun had by all. Major news from the event saw Massive Q turn on friend TNT at the conclusion of the TNT Vs Il Cognito Title bout on 13 Oct. The next day Il Cognito announced he was forming a group to be known as “The Freakshow” and Q would be the first member.Other noteworthy events saw the rivalry between Powerhouse Theo and Jay Law escalate, with both men interjecting and viewing the others bouts. “7 Foot Thunder” Conan Stephens returned to AWF action defeating Ireland’s Harry Hardshaw dressed in Leprechaun regalia. Hardshaw was so beaten up after the bout that he may not compete in AWF again, which is a shame, because he was just starting to really find his stride in the ring. There were also celebrity guest appearances by Fat Momma, and Sam “Flash Gordon” Jones as part of the proceedings. Organisers were happy with the reaction AWF received and will look to make AWF part of future events.

On 20 October AWF debuted at the Central Coast Youth Club, Niagara Park, NSW in front of 250 enthusiastic fans for a great night of AWF action for the first of three “Pro-Wrestling Showdown” events. In the main bouts The Surf Club downed The Freakshow, Powerhouse Theo pinned Chris X and TNT & Raven teamed to down all 3 Platinum Players. After the bout TNT detonated Kid Dynamite on the AWF Title busting him open.

21 October saw AWF at The Factory Theatre, Enmore, NSW in front of a small crowd of only 70 fans. Main bouts saw TNT and Billy Flyswat go to a no contest after Platinum Players interfered, Conan Stephens downed Lebo Ceda, Powerhouse Theo bested Jay Law, and Raven with help from Bodacious Bo downed The Platinum Players. In the end JT Robinson was singled out by Raven, and TNT & Flyswat joined in on the celebrations, humiliating JT mid ring.

Another small crowd turned out to The Croxton Park Hotel, Thornbury, Vic on 26 October to see main results of Spike Steele downing Billy Flyswat, Powerhouse Theo pinning Mad Dog Mcrea and TNT & Raven besting the Bastard Brothers.

The main thing to come out of the Enmore & Thornbury events were that the crowds were AWF’s smallest in years. It is a shame these events were not supported as the shows were great and the venues are excellent. It will be difficult to return to these areas for a long time.

A big shout out to AWF fans Jeremy and Jess who traveled from Northern Territory to come to the October Wrestlefest events and gave us great support, and Alan Absolom who came all the way Tasmania once again, to support the Pro-Wrestling Showdown. If we had more loyal fans like you guys Australian wrestling would be much better off. AWF thanks you guys for your big efforts and support! You guys rock!

Special thanks also goes out to Trent Wilson and Matt Smith, plus Beaumont, Morgy and Micheal for their help with street team stuff. If you are able to help with promotion of AWF shows, please drop us an email at info@awfwrestling.com.au to help. You can make a difference and help AWF’s growth!

Congratulations go to Mark Hilton for his recent engagement to long time partner Kirsty. The AWF team wishes you continued success in your relationship and appreciates all you have done for AWF.
